April Community Outreach Opportunity - Tech for Troops

Do you have any old computer equipment, laptops or cellphones cluttering your space at home? We will start collecting these items listed below in April. You can bring them to church during the week or on Sundays. This Non-Profit was started here in Richmond and has now expanded to the DC/MD area. If you have any questions, please contact Cindy Reynolds. There will be a designated area in our fellowship area to gather the equipment. Thanks.

  • What we need the most are laptops, desktop computers and cell phones. While almost everything else can be recycled, these devices go to in-need Veterans after data destruction. T4T guarantees Data Destruction for all devices that could contain data. We accept all electrical wires, unlocked mobile devices, servers, hard drives, computers, and much more.
  • Tech For Troops accepts large and small donations of technology with the intent of recycling, refurbishing, and reselling to support the Veteran community. Our vision is to turn your donations into Training, Education, and Technology for Veterans and their families in need.
  • Mission: Tech For Troops is dedicated to empowering Veterans with computers, skills, and Information Technology (IT) workforce training.
Tech For Troops’ Veteran Improvement Program (VIP) supplies qualifying Veterans and Veteran Assistance Organizations with refurbished computers at low or no cost. Each computer has a fresh install of the operating system and is excellent for typical office tasks such as word processing and browsing the web.
1. Veterans, National Guard, and active duty transitioning in need.
2. Non-profits with a mission to help Veterans such as Veterans training centers, counseling centers, Veterans housing organizations, etc.
Richmond area recipients must attend a Veteran Improvement Basic Computer Literacy Training class prior to receiving the gift of technology. If you are Computer Literate, we will ask you to “test” out to show your competency. If outside of Richmond, we can arrange to have your equipment shipped (PO boxes not accepted). Applying for a scholarship may help reduce the cost of the equipment being shipped.
Some of the organizations that have received computers from
Tech For Troops are:
  • Veterans’ Employment Program
  • DLW Veterans Outreach and Training Center
  • American Legion Posts across the US
  • Wounded Warrior Project
  • VFW across the US
  • Liberation Veteran Services
  • McGuire VA Medical Center
  • American Legion Ransom Post 186
  • Team Red White and Blue
